Recreation Therapy Assistant – Acute Medicine Surge 1B – Full Time

Duties:

  1. Be an active member of the interdisciplinary team. Attend family meetings as necessary to provide information and input into individual client and group programs.
  2. Provide activity programs and services under the direction of the full time Activity Therapist(s)
  3. Assist in the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of appropriate activities for the various patient populations within the Rehab and Complex Continuing Care Programs.
  4. Collaborate and communicate with the Activity Therapists on all levels of programming and identify any opportunities for improvement.
  5. Compliance with legislative, organizational and departmental regulations, standards and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety and Infection Control.
  6. Record and input statistical data into the Infomed System and Communicate with MDS office.
  7. Meet with new admissions to advise them of the programs and services offered. Refer to the monthly activity calendar.
  8. Responsible for personal development and skill building. 
  9. Responsible to maintain current status with all unit communication, education and information.
  10. Engage in the annual self evaluation and performance development process.
  11. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:             

  • Diploma or Degree in Recreation and Leisure studies or related field.
  • Current BCLS certification.

Experience:

  • Experience in recreational programming

  • Proficiency in Microsoft office computer applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
