Inpatient Pharmacy Services

Almost every patient who is cared for at Sault Area Hospital will receive a medication to help them get better or to be more comfortable.  Pharmacy Services professionals are the recognized experts on medications at Sault Area Hospital.  Our Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, and Pharmacy Assistants make sure you are on the right drug, for the right reason, and that it is prepare safely and available when you need it.

Our Clinical Pharmacists provide direct support to your physicians, nurses, and even education to patients on the correct use of their medications.  We will monitor your bloodwork and antibiotics and adjust your dose if needed.  Our pharmacists are located throughout the hospital in such areas as: Medical units, ICU, Renal department, and Oncology area. 

In addition to our clinical services, the pharmacy team prepares many doses of medications and distribute them throughout the hospital to our automated dispensing units.  We also manufacture many specialty intravenous medications.  Our staff is on site preparing your medications 365 days a year and a pharmacist is available on call 24 hours a day.

The most important thing we want you to know is how to take your medication correctly.  Please talk with your local pharmacist to make sure you understand how to take your medication.  Your pharmacist could provide you with an updated medication list which is so important to bring with you when coming to the hospital so that your doctor has all accurate information when making treatment decisions.
