Logistics Specialist – Logistics – Full Time

PURPOSE:

The Logistics Specialist is responsible for ordering, distributing and managing the inventories of Direct Medical/Surgical supplies, in addition to addressing other supply needs when required.  Reporting to the manager of Logistics, you support the on-going operations of the all assigned units including, CATH LAB, OR, SPD, Endoscopy, and other units as needed.

 

DUTIES:

 

  1. Responsible for carrying dedicated phone equipped with voice mail – to support all assigned units.
  2. Work in conjunction with the buyers and unit staff, to ensure the continuity of supply.
  3. Ordering and managing direct inventories for assigned units.
  4. Retrieve all direct orders from Receiver and ensuring accuracy of paperwork and deliver/put away stock.
  5. Complete stock rotation of all direct product within assigned units inclusive of the OR suites.
  6. Responsible for the various cart inventories within assigned units and ensure readiness for staff to use.
  7. Interface with Receiver on all inbound shipments as required.
  8. Integrating new products / removal of discontinued supplies from use.
  9. Investigating and implementing corrective action for all product recalls.
  10. Responsible for accurate labelling of all stock inventories.
  11. Assisting with other logistics functions including the warehouse as needed.
  12. Following up on all backordered products.

               

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Logistics/Distribution experience within the last 5 years
  2. Valid driver’s license in good standing with clean abstract.
  3. Valid electric pallet jack certification is required (training & certification will be provided)
  4. Experience working with a Materials Management system
  5. Experience with Procurement and Distribution processes/Meditech
  6. Proficient in excel spreadsheets
  7. Basic math skills including number recognition.

 

KNOWLEDGE & ABILITY:

  1. Work effectively and efficiently as a team member in a fast paced environment in stressful situations
  2. Ability to be comfortable and willing to make decisions that will affect planned and unplanned surgical activities and their supporting departments
  3. Proficiency within a Microsoft environment, with special emphasis on Excel and Word.
  4. Maintains successful working relationships with the interdisciplinary team to achieve positive patient outcomes
  5. Organize time effectively to perform the duties of the position.
  6. Ability to meet and interact with people in a pleasant, professional, responsible and reassuring manner.
  7. Ability to read, write and communicate to perform the duties of the position.
  8. Knowledge of medical/surgical materiel and related Health Centre Operating Room supplies
  9. Practical ability to perform key-in activities on a computer terminal and/or handheld system.

 Note:  Because of the changing nature of the work and work to be done, other responsibilities and duties may by assigned and qualifications may be adjusted from time to time.

This position is covered by a collective agreement. Applications from outside the bargaining unit are welcome, but can only be considered if the position is not filled from within the bargaining unit.
