Debbie Caporosi, Cleaner

Debbie Caporosi began working at SAH in 2001 in the Food Services Department and for the last 5 years has worked as a cleaner in the Housekeeping Department. She came to the hospital from the food industry having worked at Aurora’s for 23 years in many capacities including pizza supervisor.

In her role as a cleaner at SAH, Debbie is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of the sterile processing department, the morgue, various office areas, and others areas as assigned. She is observant, inquisitive and eager to learn about hospital operations. “I love interacting with our people and getting to know them,” she says. “I ask questions so I can learn more about the areas in which I work.” Debbie is careful to follow safety procedures and is passionate about infection control and continuous improvements. “Housekeeping is one of the most important jobs at SAH and if I think we can improve our processes and make things better for our staff and patients, I do not hesitate to bring my ideas forward.”

Although there are challenges with keeping floors clean in the winter, she works hard to ensure that her work is thorough. “It’s nice to receive a compliment that my areas are clean – it has to be because that is my job.” Debbie enjoys working with all staff across the hospital and speaks highly of the housekeeping team. “We work together and we are all here for the same reason – ultimately for staff and patients.”

In her spare time, Debbie enjoys spending time with family and friends and cooking Sunday dinners. “When I retire, I would like to volunteer to cook- perhaps for Meals on Wheels.” Debbie also enjoys walking and her frequent trips to Petoskey, Michigan!

Thank you to Debbie for her cheerful attitude, her willingness to always help and her dedication to her work.
