Annette Finateri, Manager Environmental Services

Annette FinateriAnnette Finateri has worked at SAH for 33 years and has been Manager of Environmental Service for about 10 years. She began her career as a part-time laundry aide in 1986 and after a brief time, she moved to Housekeeping where she became proficient in all aspects of housekeeping in the health care setting. Annette then went on to become a team leader, a supervisor and in 2010, she became the manager.

In her role, Annette manages a total of 140 staff in the housekeeping, central transport (porters) and waste management, the largest group of employees in the hospital. Her team is responsible for the cleanliness of the entire building. “In housekeeping, our focus is to follow infection control guidelines, in Waste Management, we follow Ministry of Environment guidelines and in Central Transport, we aim to provide the timely transport of our patients within the hospital. According to Annette, safety is her main priority. “It’s very important that staff are trained and follow best practice guidelines to ensure the safety of patients, staff and visitors.” Her staff and dedicated supervisors are team-oriented and work well together. “I have a very patient-focused, competent group of staff who are dedicated to their work and understand the importance of their roles,” she says.

Annette is proud of her team and finds her work personally rewarding. “We have a great impact on patients and their experiences at SAH. When we receive patient feedback acknowledging the work we do or a patient’s positive interaction with our staff, it is validating and rewarding.”

In her spare time, Annette is an avid runner and completed her first half marathon at the age of 50. She enjoys taking care of her family, cooking, sewing and knitting and credits her mother for mentoring her.

Thank you to Annette for her many dedicated years of patient-centred service and her passion for excellence!
