SAH Chief of Staff Recruitment Process Begins

Sault Area Hospital’s Board of Directors is excited to share with our community that they have begun the recruitment process for a new Chief of Staff.

The Board of Directors is seeking a respected medical leader and practising clinician for Sault Area Hospital (SAH) who is committed to our Vision, Mission, and iCcare Values and is devoted to healthcare innovation yielding excellent health care service delivery and delivery outcomes. The ideal candidate will be a proven partnership and relationship builder in the service of the hospital and the medical staff community.

“It is a time of rebuilding at SAH – a new three-year strategic plan has been developed with two key strategic directions for the future and one to reinforce the solid foundation that will help support the organization. Our hospital leadership, staff, physicians, and volunteers have put a lot of thought into the future of SAH and how we will deliver on continued health care excellence into the future,” expresses Brent Rankin, SAH Board of Directors Chair. “We will continue to focus on providing excellent, high-quality care to enhance the care we already provide,” states Rankin. “We have exciting initiatives underway, including the new residential withdrawal management program, expansion of cardiac care services, and growing our work in digital health, research and innovation, each directly impacting patient care in our community and region,” he adds.

Possessing a demonstrated ability to foster harmony and alignment in physician and organization relationships, success in leading quality initiatives, experience in mentoring physician leaders and cultivating active medical leadership across an organization, along with experience in developing successful strategies for physician recruitment, retention, and performance management the ideal candidate will relish the opportunity to lead by example and leverage the remarkable skills of our staff, physicians, and volunteers. Above all, the Chief of Staff sought will play a leadership role in building relationships with the community, government, media, and other health system entities to deliver excellence in patient care.

We look forward to introducing our next Chief of Staff when a successful candidate has accepted the position.

The Board of Directors would like to take this opportunity to express its sincere thanks to Dr. Silvana Spadafora as she retires from her Chief of Staff position. Dr. Spadafora served our hospital and community with a deep commitment to patient care over her tenure as Chief of Staff and will continue to serve us well during the transition period and ongoing in the Algoma District Cancer Program.
