Spiritual Health and Wellness – Smudging

There has been a growing interest in our hospital to improve our awareness and understanding of the spiritual needs of Indigenous patients and family members, particularly of the ceremonial practice of Smudging.

This short educational module has been prepared that features a video of Knowledge Keeper Marlene Syrette explaining and demonstrating a Smudging ceremony to meet this need.

SAH is grateful to Marlene for sharing her expertise, knowledge, and wonderfully engaging teaching skills with our hospital. The module will also provide a bit of information about SAH’s policy on Spiritual Ceremonial Burning and the use of the Spirit Room near 1C.
