Sault Area Hospital continues with the work to bring to fruition the approved Community-Based Residential Withdrawal Management and Safe Bed program. We are grateful to the patient and family advisors, community partners, resource pool SAH staff, physicians and volunteers who have given their time and talents to support this essential change.
Where do I start?
You have options. A continuum of addiction treatment service are available in our community. To learn more or identify the lowest intensity service best suited to meet you where you are, please contact Canadian Mental Health Association Algoma – Centre access and information at 705-759-5989.

Anyone can refer for those feeling anxious or hesitant about attending, we encourage bringing a support person.

Contact Withdrawal Management to confirm bed availability.

Present to the hospital entrance, preferably the emergency entrance, and notify door screening staff that you would like to attend withdrawal management. A Withdrawal Management staff member will meet you to assess you for admission.
Referral can come from anywhere, self-referrals included.

Once in the hospital, if addiction is identified as problematic in the person’s life, then staff involved in the care can put a referral in for AMCT to come to do a consult.
AMCT can service not only the individual with the addiction but also that persons’ family and supports.
AMCT is available Monday – Friday 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
24/7 telephone support service is available to individuals of all age groups.
