Sault Area Hospital (SAH) welcomes Dr. Michela Febbraro, Oncologist to the Algoma District Cancer Program (ADCP) and to our community.
Dr. Febbraro completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Ottawa and then attended NOSM University. She completed her internal medicine residency at the Thunder Bay NOSM University campus. She then obtained her Medical Oncology specialty at McMaster University. “My passion is in the field of oncology. It is a powerful feeling to be a part of a patient’s life when they are at their most vulnerable point. I enjoy working with patients and their families on providing a holistic patient care experience.” Dr. Febbraro also completed a combined Master’s degree in Health Research Methodology and a Fellowship in lung cancer.
Born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Dr. Febbraro is pleased to be practicing medicine and providing patient care in her hometown. “Over the last year, I have been doing some locum work in Northern Ontario and I am excited to begin my role at SAH. It feels wonderful to be back home with family and friends, caring for my community. My roots are here and I am deeply committed to practicing medicine in Northern Ontario. I always wanted to come back,” she says. When asked about SAH and the healthcare team, Dr. Febbraro says, “This hospital building is beautiful and the team in ADCP feels like family. I am excited to be part of this exceptional group of professionals.”
This community has always been “a breath of fresh air” for Dr. Febbraro. “This community offers a perfect mix of cultural and outdoor experiences. In 15 minutes, you can get to the water or hiking trails.” Dr. Febbraro loves the outdoors including hiking, kayaking, camping, diving, playing soccer and being active with her dog.
Dr. Febbraro’s husband is currently completing his medical training and will begin working at SAH as an Intensivist/Internal Medicine specialist in August 2023.
We take this opportunity to welcome Dr. Febbraro and her family to SAH and SSM!
