Renal Aide- Renal Hemodialysis- Part Time

 Duties:

  1. Performs set up, stripping, cleaning, and disinfection of dialysis machines in Renal Hemodialysis Department, and as required in Critical Care.
  2. Reprocesses Bicarbonate for Hemodialysis.
  3. Assembles trays used to initiate and discontinue Hemodialysis.
  4. Identifies, assesses, and communicates to the hemodialysis nurse discrepancies in the dialysis supplies identified to be used for a patient’s dialysis treatment.
  5. Assumes responsibility to initiate on/off procedures for the water treatment system.
  6. Stocks linen cupboards.
  7. Stocks L-carts of dialysis supplies.
  8. Provides assistance, as required, to porter patients, supplies, dialysis machines, lab specimens, and other non-nursing duties.
  9. Identifies, assesses, and communicates safety concerns to the Renal Patient Care Supervisor or delegate.
  10. Provides assistance in planning corrective actions to ensure safety for patients and staff.

Qualifications:             

  • Secondary school diploma.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as Renal Dialysis Aide.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated ability to perform sterile/aseptic techniques, disinfection procedures, and articulate infection control standards

Ability:

  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, communicate effectively and collaborate with other team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain successful working relationships; ability to meet and interact with people in a pleasant, professional, responsible and reassuring manner, both in person and on the telephone; tact, courtesy and alertness in public contacts.
  • Must be physically capable of performing the job, which includes extended standing, walking, and lifting.
