Purpose of Position:
To assist with patient care as delegated by the Physiotherapist and/or Occupational Therapist; assist in organizing caseload coverage for Physiotherapists and/or Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy and/or Physiotherapy Assistant teams during vacations, absences and rotations; manage equipment and supplies for the department; provide support of departmental projects, best practices and programs.
Duties:
- Assist with or provide patient treatment in the outpatient setting under the direction of Occupational Therapists or Physiotherapists.
- Provide patient education as directed.
- Facilitate and participate in group therapy as instructed by the Therapist, including preparing materials and setting up treatment space.
- Complete documentation as directed and/or required by legislation.
- Configure and provide personalized exercise and/or therapy programs as directed.
- Maintain cleanliness of treatment areas and designated equipment as per infection control policies and procedures.
- Complete statistics reporting electronically.
- Order and maintain sufficient quantity of stock and non-stock supplies, forms, etc.
- Maintain inventory and function of equipment.
- Assist with meeting planning or in-services as required.
- Assist manager with obtaining quotes, ordering equipment and scheduling of maintenance for existing equipment.
- Assist with product research related to best practice and product improvements.
- Coordinate and provide orientation, supervision and evaluation of OTA/PTA students; assist with orientation of other students.
- Assist with screening and appointment coordination.
- Participate in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications/Experience:
- Undergraduate degree in exercise science, human kinetics or OTA/PTA diploma.
- Minimum 2-3 years practical OTA/PTA experience.
Knowledge/Ability:
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team-based environment and in stressful
- Knowledge of provincial standards and legislative requirements related to rehabilitative care.
- Customer service, interpersonal and telephone
- Computer literacy in a Microsoft
- Demonstrated ability to maintain successful working relationships with the interdisciplinary team to achieve positive patient
