Inventory Controller – Logistics – Full Time

Purpose of Position:

To control the daily operations, work flow and service levels in the storing, issuing and distribution of the hospital’s inventory housed in a number of locations including off-site facilities.

Duties:

  1. Perform a variety of shipping functions to ensure the accurate accounting of items.
  2. Store items accurately as determined by the purchase instructions; including locating to off-site storage facilities.
  3. Oversee the inventories in all location and ensure stock is rotated according to expiry dates or transferred to support the supply needs of SAH.
  4. Receive inventory requests through various mediums including phone, e-mail, and Meditech.
  5. Pick and stage items for delivery.
  6. Maintain records of transactions in Meditech and/or on hardcopy files as needed.
  7. Maintain stock quotas for MAIN, Pandemic & Clean Utility Room templates in Meditech, with the support of buyers, distribution aides, and unit leads
  8. Perform inventory audits & assist in determining root cause of inaccuracies & corrective action.
  9. Oversee the safe operation of all warehouse locations and identify/report unsafe work conditions to supervisor/manager.
  10. Work in collaboration with the Logistics team to accomplish departmental goals and meet service requirements.
  11. Exchange, prepare/replenish crash carts to ensure ample supplies are stocked and ready in the designated location.
  12. Routine delivery & pickup of items in support of community partners, including ad hoc requests.
  13. Control the warehouse operations by organizing the daily workflow and providing direction to accomplish departmental service requirements.
  14. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:   

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain forklift training and or certificate in forklift training required.
  • Meet physical demands of the job, including extended standing, walking, lifting and climbing using proper technique.
  • One (1) year of warehouse or logistics experience.
  • Drivers license and clean driver’s abstract required.

 Skills and Ability:

  • Strong math skill and number memory for performing transactions & inventory counts.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently as a team member in a fast paced demanding environment, and in stressful situations.
  • Ability to maintain calm and communicate in a respectful manner to organize and direct workflow of others.
  • Strong organization skills to receive and track many requests at a time. Ability to prioritize work to manage competing duties and tasks.
  • Computer literacy in a Microsoft environment.
  • Experience working with inventory and use of inventory software including Meditech.
  • Ability to maintain successful working relationships with the interdisciplinary team to achieve positive customer outcomes.
  • Ability to meet and interact with people in a pleasant, professional, responsible and reassuring manner.
  • Behavior consistent with Hospital Mission, Values and Standards of Performance.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate to perform the duties of the position.
  • Knowledge of medical/surgical material/supplies in the healthcare field.
  • Practical ability to work with current office technology including data entry, order processing systems, bar code scanning equipment, Outlook and photocopiers.  Packaging tools, and material handling equipment i.e. dollies, hand trucks, pallet trucks, wrapping machinery.
