Duties:
- As directed by the physiotherapist, carry out exercise and walking programs and/or therapy activities with patients to increase endurance and tolerance
- Assist physiotherapist with patient treatment.
- Participate in facilitation of group therapy
- Facilitate education to patients as assigned by the Physiotherapist
- Perform routine range of motion exercises on patients.
- Prepare and apply the following treatments under the direct supervision of the therapist; ultrasound, electrical stimulation. The site intensity and rate being initiated by the responsible physiotherapist.
- Record and enter workload units in software..
- Maintain medical records of treatment provided as required in EMR .
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work areas.
- Participate in quality improvement
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy Assistant Diploma
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years practical physiotherapy experience
Knowledge/Ability:
- Demonstrated ability to instruct patients on the use of crutches, canes, walkers and slings
- Demonstrated knowledge in range of motion exercises
- Demonstrated knowledge of ultrasound, electrical stimulation
- Demonstrated ability to successfully work independently, under supervision and as a part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain successful working relationships; ability to meet and interact with people in a pleasant, professional, responsible and reassuring manner, tact, courtesy and alertness in public contacts.
- Demonstrated excellent communication and organizational skills.
