Parking - Question & Answers
How do I Pay For Parking?
When you first arrive at one of the four parking lots at SAH, you will receive a barcoded ticket upon entry. You can bring the ticket with you into the hospital and, once you have finished your appointment, you use one of the pay stations located throughout SAH to pay for parking. Alternatively, you can also pay at the parking lot exit gate with your debit or credit card. The bar-coded ticket must be used to exit the lot.
Where are the Pay Stations Located?
Pay stations accepting cash, debit, and credit cards are located in four locations inside the hospital:
- Front Lobby alcove on Level 2
- Cafeteria on Level 1
- South Entrance Vestibule on Level 2
- Emergency Department Vestibule on Level 2
Are there accessible parking spaces?
There are a number of accessible parking spots located within close proximity to the entrance to both the main entrance, the East Entrance and the Emergency Department.
Is there short-term parking?
Sault Area Hospital also offers limited metered parking for short visits at the main entrance. The rate is $1.00 per every 15 minutes up to a maximum of 1 hour.
What if I forget to pay at the pay station inside?
The exit gate will accept tap payment from credit card and debit cards if you have forgotten to pay inside at a pay station.
I have purchased a parking pass. How do I enter and exit the parking lot?
With a day, week, or monthly pass, you will need to keep your parking ticket for the length of time purchased. So when you enter the lot the next time, do not take a new ticket. Instead, insert your ticket into the machine—it will be returned for you to use again, and the gate will open. It is the same to exit the lot. Insert the ticket, it will be returned to you, and the gate will open. Please remember to take your receipt after purchasing a pass in the event you lose your ticket.
Where does the money collected from parking fees go?
Ontario hospitals rely on parking fees as a revenue source to supplement government funding. Parking revenues are used both to offset ongoing maintenance costs and generate revenue which supports vital community patient care programs.
