Welcome Medical Learners

Welcome/Bienvenue/Biindigen to SAH! We look forward to having you with us during your placement in our community and our hospital.

Your safety and wellbeing is of upmost importance to us. These orientation modules serve as learning and education tools for important health and safety topics as well as local protocols. There are abundant risks and hazards in a hospital setting, therefore, it is important to be aware of your surroundings at all times.

When it comes to health and safety, if you are ever in doubt, stop and ask prior to proceeding. There are multiple hospital leaders, a manager on call, preceptor physicians, department leads, and the Chief of Staff who are available and willing to assist. Please bring forward any questions or concerns.

For Your Information

The NOSM Coordinator will schedule a full orientation on your first morning of clinical duty.  The in person orientation will include issuing IT access, ID badge, SAH tour, and EMR training.  It is a great opportunity to familiarize yourself with the facility and SAH workers.

An SAH ID badge will be issued to you during your initial orientation.  The ID badge will allow access to all staff areas as well as one touch access to the computer network.  The badge can be shredded at end of rotation.

Parking passes are available for purchase at the kiosk in the Sault Area Hospital front lobby.  Medical residents and students qualify for a part-time parking monthly rate of $43.34 but must obtain the pass at the SAH Cashier’s Office (off the front lobby) to obtain the rate.

SAH has a general supply of the following N95 mask sizes 1804, 1860, 18060S, 8110S, 8210, 1870+, and 9205+. Please ensure your fitting matches one of the sizes on hand.  If you are fit for an alternate mask, please bring your own supply or schedule a refitting https://sahoccupationalhealth.as.me/n95
