Featuring Our Residential Withdrawal Management Staff: Peter Carty
Peter Carty began working as an Addiction Service Worker at Withdrawal Management (Detox) in June 2017, after working as a student. He is a Registered Social Service Worker with The Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
His role is to assess, monitor, develop a treatment plan, provide support and make referrals to other organizations. Peter has his certification as a GAINQ3 certified interviewer through the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. “I have seen the transition of our program from the former site at 911 Queen Street to the hospital and although this is a very good interim site, I am looking forward to moving to the new Residential Withdrawal Management centre on Old Garden River Road,” he says. “The space will be a huge improvement for clients and staff.”
With growing addictions concerns in the community, Peter points out that the new space will have more beds and expanded space to provide holistic and specific medical treatment for residents. “The new site is much larger, provides more treatment beds, has the appropriate space for group therapy and offers comfortable surroundings to promote healing.”
We thank Peter for his dedication and we recognize him for his many contributions to the clients of our Residential Withdrawal Management Program!
