Featuring Dr. Meaghan Moreau

We welcome Dr. Meaghan Moreau, Pediatrician, to Sault Area Hospital (SAH) and our community.

Born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Dr. Moreau is pleased to return to her hometown. “My plan was always to return to Sault Ste. Marie and I am thrilled to be a pediatrician in my hometown,” she says. Dr. Moreau earned her medical degree from NOSM University in Thunder Bay. Dr. Moreau then completed her pediatric residency at Queen’s University. She moved to our community a year ago.

During her medical training, Dr. Moreau completed two summer studentships and her third year clerkship at SAH. She always thought she would pursue family medicine but her clerkship opened her eyes to pediatrics. “This epiphany completely changed my career path,” she says. “The incredible mentorship and positive experiences I had at SAH were a huge factor in my decision to pursue pediatrics.” Dr. Moreau loves working with children. “I am constantly inspired by their resiliency, energy and carefree nature. They are funny and bring joy to my work.” She has an interest in pediatric asthma and diabetes, as well as medical education. “I saw the impact that my mentors had on me, and I would love to provide that guidance to others.”

Dr. Moreau speaks highly of her colleagues and the SAH team. “I value teamwork and collaboration within all aspects of the pediatric team. The atmosphere is team focused and everyone is so welcoming. SAH is the most collegial hospital I have worked in.”

Dr. Moreau enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She has a one-year old daughter and her husband is a physician in the SAH Emergency Department. In their spare time, they enjoy relaxing with a good cup of coffee and exploring the beautiful outdoors of Sault Ste Marie. “We spend a lot of time at our family camp on St. Joseph Island and skiing at Searchmont,” she says. “We also have a golden retriever who we absolutely adore. She has been with us through our medical training adventures!”

We extend a warm welcome to Dr. Moreau and her family.
