- Clair Whittington, RPN Ambulatory Care
Clair Whittington has worked as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) for over 2 years, beginning first in the Mental Health and Addictions Program and then moving to Ambulatory Care.
Originally from Wales, Clair and her family moved from Saskatchewan about 5 years ago after spending many years travelling the world and living abroad in India and Saudi Arabia. Soon after arriving in Sault Ste. Marie, Clair decided to enroll in the RPN program and began working at SAH immediately upon completion of her program. As an RPN, Clair works in urology, minor procedures and mostly in medical daycare. “We provide infusions of iron, blood and blood products, we take patients to Diagnostic Imaging for biopsies and recover them and we provide PICC line care.” Clair enjoys her work and the relationships she builds with patients. “It is a great pleasure to get to know my patients and their families. I love my work!”
Clair’s first career in Wales was in Criminal and Civil law. She practiced for approximately 6 years before moving to India. “My husband’s work took our family all over the world and I am so lucky to have travelled and been enriched by my experiences.” In Saskatchewan, Clair was a real estate broker for about 10 years. She also taught English as a second language and has an auctioneer’s license. “My family has an antique auction business in Tennessee and I occasionally work there in the auction houses during the summer.”
Outside of work, Clair enjoys spending time with her husband and 4 children, reading, cooking, camping and painting. “My daughter plays Ringette so we spend a lot of time at the rink too!”
We take this opportunity to thank and recognize Clair for her warm personality and dedication to her patients!
