PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Distribution Aide is responsible to distribute/supply items as required for end-user consumption as required to support Sault Area Hospital.
DUTIES:
1 Performing inventory counts in designated areas to identify stock requirements.
- Use hand held computer to key in supply counts for each scheduled area.
- Download information from hand held to generate picks lists.
- Pick stock to fill orders or replenish inventory locations.
- Unpack all supplies out of boxes and stock shelves, rotate supplies based on expiry dates and present stock for e end-user.
- Maintain stock in the designated supply rooms to ensure a clean, organized and accurate state.
- Identify opportunities to improve stock flow and prevent waste by working with Inventory Controller to adjust room quotas.
- Assist in the warehouse and other Distribution Aids, including the delivery of all other orders throughout the facility.
- Assist in the restock of the warehouse on designated days.
- Help to maintain crash carts when required.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license including:
- Current year + 2 prior consecutive years of driver’s insurance
- A clean Driver’s Abstract (3 year driving record from Service Ontario) which SAH will request from MTO and pay for prior to an applicant being successful in the award.
ABILITY:
- Strong basic math skills and number recognition for performing inventory transactions and data entry.
- Computer literacy in a Microsoft environment with working knowledge of basic computer functions.
- Experience working with inventory values and the use of inventory software to manage.
- Practical knowledge of electronic technologies including scanners for data entry, order processing systems, bar code technology, and photocopiers. Packaging tools, and material handling equipment i.e. dollies, hand trucks, pallet truck.
- Meet the physical demands of the position which include constant standing, walking, bending, twisting, crouching, pushing & pulling or loaded carts. Use of step ladders and step stools to access supplies. Regular lifting to weights up to 40lbs and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Practical ability to work with current office technology including data entry, order processing systems, bar code scanning equipment, and photocopiers. Packaging tools, and material handling equipment i.e. dollies, hand trucks, pallet trucks, wrapping machinery.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently as a team member in a fast paced demanding environment, and in stressful situations.
- Ability to maintain calm and communicate in a respectful manner to organize and direct workflow of others.
- Strong organization skills to receive and track many requests at a time. Ability to prioritize work to manage competing duties and tasks.
- Ability to maintain successful working relationships with the interdisciplinary team to achieve positive customer outcomes.
- Ability to meet and interact with people in a pleasant, professional, responsible and reassuring manner.
- Ability to read, write and communicate to perform the duties of the position.
- Willingness to cross train on multiple roles to provide support and cover jobs as needed within the Logistics Department, including Inventory Controller, Receiver and Logistics Specialist.
- Ability to operate electric pallet moving equipment.
