Co-op Students – January 2020

Feature Student VolunteersChristopher Morehouse and Chelsea Strickland were among our recent co-op students, spending their time in a variety of volunteer roles across the organization.

Christopher is a grade 11 student from St. Mary’s College who dreams of becoming a paramedic. His placement with SAH has confirmed his ambition and he will continue to be working toward that goal. “Throughout my placement at SAH, I interacted with EMS professionals and supported patients they brought to the hospital. It was a great opportunity.” He also enjoyed volunteering in ambulatory care where his role included variety and allowed him to learn about the many clinics within the department. “I would recommend co-op at SAH to other high school students as it provided me with the opportunity to learn more about health care.”

Chelsea Strickland is a grade 12 student from Korah Collegiate who has enjoyed working directly with our patients. “My placement at SAH helped me to decide to apply to dental hygiene programs in the province,” she says. “I love helping others and I enjoyed being part of the health care environment.” Chelsea also enjoyed assisting with patient activities. “I enjoyed supporting patients in this role because I was able to get to know our patients.”

We take this opportunity to thank our co-op students for their hard work, enthusiasm and willingness to learn. We wish both Chris and Chelsea the best of luck in their future endeavours!
