May 28, 2026 – Sault Area Hospital (SAH) successfully hosted its first-ever Research Day on May 27, bringing together clinicians, researchers, healthcare leaders, learners, and community partners to showcase healthcare innovation and collaboration across Northern Ontario.
Centred around the theme “Local Discovery, Better Recovery,” the event highlighted the important role research plays in advancing evidence-informed care, improving patient outcomes, and strengthening healthcare delivery across the Algoma region.
The day featured public poster presentations, specialized workshops, keynote presentations, and networking opportunities focused on rural and community-based research, innovation, and healthcare transformation.
Participants had the opportunity to explore a range of local research initiatives and hear from healthcare and academic leaders from organizations including NOSM University, Sault Area Hospital, and St. Michael’s Hospital.
Keynote and featured presentations included topics such as patient partnerships in research, clinical trials, virtual care innovation, and robotic stroke intervention.
