Parking Lot Expansion at Sault Area Hospital

May 24, 2026 – Sault Area Hospital (SAH) would like to inform patients, visitors, staff and community members of upcoming construction activities associated with the South Parking Lot Expansion Project.

Beginning Monday, June 1, 2026, a section of the Ring Road adjacent to the South Parking Lot at Sault Area Hospital will be temporarily closed to support ongoing construction related to a parking lot expansion project.

The closure will remain in place throughout active construction. Clearly marked signage and designated detour routes will be in place to support the safe movement of vehicles and pedestrians around the affected area.

This work is part of ongoing infrastructure improvements aimed at enhancing parking capacity and accessibility across the hospital campus. Following the completion of tree and brush removal — anticipated by June 19, 2026 — the closure area will be reassessed to determine whether access adjustments can be safely implemented as the project progresses into its next phase.

Overall project completion is currently planned for August 31, 2026. Any updates regarding access changes will be communicated as they become available.

During construction, the community may notice increased activity, temporary traffic adjustments, and additional signage in the area surrounding the hospital. Every effort will be made to minimize disruptions where possible.

Patients, visitors, and staff are encouraged to plan ahead, follow posted signage, and allow additional travel time while travelling through the area during construction activities.

We recognize that construction activities may cause temporary inconvenience and sincerely appreciate the patience, understanding, and cooperation of our community as this important work is completed.

Please refer to the attached closure map for additional details. The temporary construction and Ring Road closure zone is indicated by the red-shaded area on the map.
