Health Care Worker (HCW) Health & Safety Protocols

Symptomatic and Asymptomatic

This document outlines the decision-making criteria and return to work guidelines for HCW who are asymptomatic and on quarantine and also for HCWs who are symptomatic.

Development of COVID-19 Symptoms

This protocol addresses the process, management and return to work guidelines for any HCW who develops symptoms, potentially consistent with the COVID-19 virus.

OHA Work Restrictions Based on Symptoms

This protocol addresses the work restriction and return to work guidelines based on a HCW report of Acute Illness regardless of whether the illness has been acquired through community or occupational contact.

These Protocols apply to anyone carrying on activities in the hospital – including, but not limited to, employees, physicians, volunteers, contractors, students, post-graduate medical trainees and researchers.

Any travel during a pandemic has the potential to spread infection. To help protect our communities and stop the spread of COVID-19, Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health strongly advises that individuals and families only travel out of the province if it is essential. Vigilance must be taken when considering any travel given the ever-evolving
situation.

All considerations for travel should follow Provincial and Federal guidelines.
