Purpose of Position:
To provide service, training and establish a preventative maintenance program for patient-applied medical devices.
Duties:
- Perform medical equipment pre-acceptance checks and incoming inspections.
- Test electro-medical equipment for performance assurance and ensure proper functioning.
- Provide clinical training of electro-medical equipment to staff, as required.
- Evaluate the capabilities of electro-medical equipment and provide advice as to whether new equipment should be purchased.
- Perform preventive maintenance and quality assurance procedures on medical equipment to ensure proper functionality and patient safety.
- Troubleshoot and repair applied medical equipment.
- Manage the life cycle of medical equipment and maintain service records utilizing CMMS software.
- Liaise with manufacturers and vendors for equipment servicing and spare part information.
- Function as a professional role model demonstrating good interpersonal skills and a commitment to self-growth and development.
- Maintain current knowledge of best practices and benchmarks for the delivery of services, appropriate research, literature, accreditation requirements, policy and legislative requirements and implement improvements/changes as appropriate.
- Comply with organizational policies, procedures and standards.
- Participate in on call rotation to provide support services after hours and on weekends.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of a recognized Biomedical Engineering program or equivalent education and experience – Recent graduates are encouraged to apply
Knowledge & Skills:
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently as a team member in a fast paced environment in stressful situations.
- Customer service, interpersonal and telephone skills.
- Computer literacy in a Microsoft environment.
- Ability to maintain successful working relationships with the interdisciplinary team to achieve positive patient outcomes.
- Ability to organize time effectively to perform the duties of the position.
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to meet and interact with people in a pleasant, professional, responsible and reassuring manner.

- Knowledge of Relevant CSA and IEC standards.
- Knowledge of evidence based treatment modalities
