Duties:
- Provide nursing care in accordance with the College of Nurses, organizational and unit standards.
- Participate and collaborate with other health care providers in provision of patient care.
- Responsible for making clinical decisions, exercising judgment to ensure best possible nursing care is provided within available resources.
- Provide health teaching to patient and family.
- Make clinical decisions, exercising judgment to ensure best possible nursing care is provided within available resources.
- Is cognizant of and participates in the development of the Nursing and Unit objectives.
- Is compliant with legislative, organizational and departmental regulations, standards and procedures related to occupational health and safety.
Qualifications:
- Certificate of competency in Ontario.
- Demonstrated competency in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
- Current certification in venipuncture (I.V. certification).
Experience:
- 2 years experience in pre and post operative surgical care required.
Ability:
- Demonstrated clinical competency in oxygen therapy and patient teaching and instruction required.
- Ability to function efficiently in a fast paced clinical setting.
- Demonstrated competency in the utilization and care of all mechanical equipment required for patient care.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and interdependently as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in written and verbal communication.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain successful working relationships; ability to meet and interact with people in a pleasant, professional, responsible and reassuring manner, both in person and on the telephone; tact, courtesy and alertness in public contacts.
- Demonstrated behaviour consistent with the hospital’s Standards of Performance and ICCARE values.

The Hospital’s Occupational Health team will require evidence of full vaccination prior to an employee’s start date. If not fully vaccinated, the Hospital’s Occupational Health team can assist successful applicants with setting up the necessary appointments to become fully vaccinated, but any start date may be delayed to the date on which a successful applicant becomes fully vaccinated. The hospital’s requirement that successful applicants be fully vaccinated is subject to any accommodation obligations it may have under the Human Rights Code.
