Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Catheterization Lab – Part Time

Duties:

Participates and collaborates with other health care providers in provision of patient care.
Effectively uses the Standards of Nursing Practice and the Nursing Process in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of the patient.
Provides health teaching to patients and family.
Working in a fast paced environment, assisting cardiologist with invasive cardiac procedures including angiography, angioplasty, right heart catheterizations and measurements, pacemaker insertions.
Post procedure monitoring including removal of femoral sheaths.
Working wearing lead apron/vest and thyroid collar (10-15 lbs) all day.

Qualifications:

Certificate of competency in Ontario.
ACLS certification, current within last two years with experience.
Current certification in venipuncture (I.V. certification).
Balloon Pump Training

Experience:

Recent within one-year experience in Cath Lab in scrubbing and circulating role.
Experiencing with titration of intravenous cardiac medications, inotropes and invasive cardiac monitoring.
2 years acute nursing experience.
1 year of ECG and Telemetry Interpretation experience.

Skills and Ability:

Demonstrated clinical competency in the management and care of patients.
Knowledgeable in the utilization and care of all mechanical equipment required for patient care.
Excellent organizational and communication skills .
Demonstrated behaviour consistent with the hospital’s mission statement and Values.
Demonstrated ability to maintain successful working relationships; ability to meet and interact with people in a pleasant, professional, responsible and reassuring manner, both in person and on the telephone; tact. Courtesy and alertness in public contacts.
