Registered Nurse- 3B Medical- Full Time

3B Medicine at Sault Area Hospital is a dynamic and collaborative environment, featuring 50 beds and a primary focus on adult patients, with a particular emphasis on geriatric/palliative care. The unit is dedicated to delivering patient-centered care, ensuring that the needs and preferences of each individual are at the forefront of treatment. This unit provides an excellent opportunity for healthcare professionals to develop and expand their skills while working with an interdisciplinary team of experts. The patient population often consists of acutely ill individuals with multi-system chronic illnesses, offering a challenging and rewarding setting for those passionate about improving the quality of life for older adults.

Duties:

  1. Participate and collaborate with other health care providers in the provision of patient care.
  2. Effectively use the Standards of Nursing Practice and the Nursing Process in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of the patient.
  3. Provides assistance in planning corrective actions to ensure safety for patients and staff.
  4. Compliant with legislation, organizational and departmental, regulations, standards and procedures related to occupational health and safety.

Qualifications:

  • A graduate from an approved school of nursing (university or community college) with a current certificate of competence with the college of nurses of ontario
  • Current certification in venipuncture (i.v. certification).

Skills:

  • Demonstrated positive interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability:

  • Demonstrated competency in the management and care of the acute medical patient.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of nursing staff including non-regulated health care workers to achieve positive patient outcomes.
  • Proficient in computer use in a Microsoft environment with the ability to use Meditech and other hospital applications.
  • Knowledgeable in the utilization and care of all mechanical equipment required for patient care.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain successful working relationships; ability to meet and interact with people in a pleasant, professional, responsible and reassuring manner, both in person and on the telephone; tact, courtesy and alertness in public contacts.
  • Demonstrated behaviour consistent with the hospital’s Standards of Performance and iCcare values.
