Occupational Therapist- Rehabilitation- Full Time (2)

Reporting to the Manager of Allied Health, the successful candidate will provide assessment, program planning, treatment, follow-up and program evaluation to both inpatients and outpatients following standards set by the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.

DUTIES:

  1. Provide assessment, program planning, treatment, follow-up and program evaluation to clients in the hospital and community.
  2. Provide education and consultation to client and family, caregivers and other health care professionals in the hospital and community to promote optimal level of occupational performance.
  3. Conduct home assessments.
  4. Function as an active member of the interdisciplinary team including patient care meetings and care planning
  5. Provide effective written and verbal communication according to hospital and departmental guidelines.
  6. Delegate to and supervision of therapy assistants
  7. Provide supervision and education to occupational therapy students, Co-operative Education students, summer students and students from Rehabilitation Assistant Programs (Community Colleges).
  8. Act independently in prioritizing patient needs to ensure individual patients on caseload receive appropriate intervention in a timely manner.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Graduate of an accredited university program in occupational therapy.
  2. Pass in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists national certification exam.
  3. Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO).
  4. Must maintain current Professional Portfolio and participate in audit process as required by the (COTO).
  5. In-depth knowledge of techniques for assessing and treating basic cognitive abilities and activities of daily living.
  6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to assist in providing relevant care to clients as well as observing and evaluating treatment effects
  7. Extensive knowledge of community resources.
  8. Ability to work independently as an interdisciplinary team member and interact with clients.
  9. Demonstrated behaviour consistent with the hospital’s Standards of Performance and ICCARE values.
