Clinical Dietitian- Algoma Regional Renal Program – Allied Health – Temporary Part Time

 DUTIES:

  1. Screen and identify patients requiring intervention in assigned patient areas using established nutrition care standards.
  2. Prioritize and assess/treat/monitor nutrition care of pre-dialysis, dialysis, post-transplant patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  3. Assess patients’ nutrition needs using medical history, physical assessment, nutrition history, and anthropometric/biochemical data.
  4. Develop, implement, and evaluate nutrition care plans, including those for high risk patients.
  5. Provide nutrition education to patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members. Contribute nutrition expertise to interdisciplinary committees, meetings, and initiatives in the department.
  6. Document according to professional and organizational standards.
  7. Liaise with community partners as required for continuity of nutrition care.
  8. Demonstrate behavior consistent with hospital Mission, Values, and Standards of Performance, including demonstrating interpersonal skills and commitment to continuous education and development.
  9. Practice evidence-based medical nutrition therapy, using current clinical nutrition guidelines to deliver exceptional patient care.
  10. Maintain current knowledge of best practices and funding criteria for the delivery of services, appropriate research, literature, accreditation requirements, policy and legislative requirements and implementing improvements/changes as appropriate.
  11. Act as preceptor/mentor to dietetic interns and other students.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Graduate of integrated or post-degree internship or Masters program accredited by the Partnership for Dietetic Education and Practice (PDEP).
  2. Registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario in good standing.

 

SKILLLS:

  1. Ability to work effectively and efficiently as a team member in a fast paced environment in stressful situations.
  2. Customer service, interpersonal and telemedicine skills.
  3. Computer literacy in a Microsoft environment, flexibility to work within different computer program environments.
